Little things

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, this time of year helps me remember to be grateful for the little things. Like how happy a little thing (like a bag of cereal from grandma) can make this little thing. Who knew Cinnamon Toast Crunch was so delightful?

Thanksgiving

I know it has been a while since I posted. There has been a lot going on (which I will catch up on later) and blogging has just had to take a back seat to more important things. But today my heart is full of thanksgiving and I just had to share this scripture with all of you theoretical readers. It is perfect for today.

"Now my brethren, we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. Now this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my God forever. Amen."
(Book of Mormon, Alma 26:37)

I know that Heavenly Father is definitely mindful of me (and my little family). I am thankful for all the tender, loving care that I receive from Him and from all the wonderful people in my life.

Happy Thanksgiving to you!

Finding the right artistic medium...

This conversation happened tonight. It definitely gives us a glimpse into how Seth's mind works...

Mom: Tell us about school today.

Seth: I went to the easel center and I painted my hands.

M: You painted a picture of your hands, or you painted on your hands?

S: On my hands.

M: Hmmm. What did your teacher say?

S: She said, "Seth!"

M: Then what happened?

S: She saw my brown hands, and she took me to the sink to wash them, and there was a sponge, and she put soap on the sponge, and I washed my hands with the sponge, and it took a long time, but then I was done and I went back to the easel.

M: And then?

S: And then I painted on the paper this time.

We take requests...

Stephen thinks that this picture should be on the blog. I am happy to comply with his request.

Can't stop reading...

John got to bring his science text book home to study for a test. He was determined to read all of the extra facts he could before bed.

Things that are closed today...

1) Public schools
2) All of the museums we were planning to go to today.

But luckily the library was still open, as were the playgrounds, so we had a fun day anyway.

Belated Pumpkins

We did things a little backwards this year and carved pumpkins the weekend after Halloween. The kids loved being able to get messy AND wield sharp objects. The parents loved that all fingers remained intact.  Good times for everyone.
