Fear not

Just in case anyone noticed that I was posting again and now fears that I have fallen back into my "wait a year to post" ways, I am here to put your mind at ease. I am not slacking, I am just on vacation. We have been mostly off the grid, which is lovely. I will catch up with lots of adorable pictures once we are back home. Until then...just imagine us relaxing like nobody's business.

Mine, all mine!

This handsome man is taking some vacation time. After being in different states for the majority of the summer we are going to have more than a week of family togetherness.  And we are all pretty darn excited about it.

Summer reading

This summer we have done a lot of reading. (Big surprise.) Today we got to go to the summer reading celebration at the library. We saw a play, got free bags and books, and got to meet Roaree the Lion. Fancy.

I have to say, I love that my kids love to read. I love it when my kids all read quietly to themselves. I love reading to them. I even love it when Joy charges across the room and throws a board book at my face because she wants some reading time. But I really really love this kind of reading time:

Buying in bulk

Question: How do you know if you got suckered into buying too many ancient grains chips at Costco?

Answer: If the bag is almost as big as your daughter.

(Plus side-- She snuck into the kitchen and brought them to me, so she obviously thinks they are delicious.)

An important milestone

Today we tried pigtails for the first time.

They were cute...

But they didn't last long.

She felt much better without them.

There's an app for that

So after several attempts to make various apps work together, it occurred to me to check for an actual blogger app. Lo and behold, it exists and is very efficient and effective. Hooray for technology!

Trying to blog from my gadget instead of the real computer. Blogger warns me that it cannot predict what will happen. Sounds pretty ominous to me. So...here's hoping I don't precipitate the zombie apocalypse or anything when I try to load a picture of my girls chatting in the grass.

It has come to my attention that everyone in the entire world is not on Facebook.  (*Gasp!*)  Also, some of those people who are not on Facebook would still like to see pictures of my adorable family. (*Nods of agreement*)  So I am going to try to get back to posting here more regularly.  (*Disbelieving head shakes*)

Be warned: I will assume that if you come to this blog, it is because you want to hear all about how clever and charming my children are and how fabulous my life is here in NYC.  I will not feel guilty about excessive picture posting or constantly quoting my hilarious little geniuses.  There will probably be some cross-posting between this blog and Facebook, but hopefully both will still be worth visiting.
